The Power of Outdoor Meditation Spaces

What better way to rejuvenate than to slip into a quiet retreat in fresh air. As the intense connection between human and nature (biophilia) gains momentum, designers are emphasizing the need to bring in more plants, daylight and open air to the workplace. Likewise, as employers now understand the importance of mindfulness and meditation for their most important asset, the employee, companies are adopting meditation as part of a complete wellness plan. Combine the two…nature and meditation….and we have an explosive combo. Retreat. Relax. Revive.

Go back to work A NEW YOU.

The options for outdoor meditation spaces are endless…from reclining on chaises and daybeds to dangling in hanging chairs, from covered spaces to sun-soaked zen gardens.

This can be a boon both at work and at home. For the backyard, carve out a small area, strew some gravel, throw an all-weather bean bag under a sun sail for shade, stick a lantern in the corner for ambience and a small fountain for a meditative trickle. Done. Now sit, breathe and refresh. Even better, send your kids out there to ‘reset.’

Caveat: This is a place for quiet, not for chowing or texting.
